In conjunction with Heart FM

We have recently run a project where four of Heart FM's DJ's learnt to play an instrument in a week and then came together to play three songs - click here for further details. Whether you used to play and gave up or whether you are new to learning, it is never too late to pick up an instrument.In either case we have a great deal to offer.

For the adult beginner, there is no barrier to learning any instrument from scratch at any age and we are happy to offer you advice on which instrument may suit you best.

As long as you are enthusiastic then we can get you started. Tuition is available at our local music centres and you can get further information by going to the 'Music Centre' section of our website.

For the lapsed student

Are you one of the many who wished they had spent more time practising when they were at school? Maybe you gave up when your family came along? If you think you would like to revisit a musical instrument then we can offer tuition, and we organise various ensembles geared towards the adult learner where you can join with others who are perhaps equally nervous of playing in public. If you fancy something new it is worth remembering that musical skills are often transferable, and having already played one instrument, you should have a head start on another.

For the more advanced player there are some ensembles in the county that are designed for musicians who reached a high standard in their youth and would like to get back to playing at a similarly advanced level.

How about singing?

Kent Music runs choirs in most music centres, many of which will welcome adults. For the more experienced singer there are also county choirs which perform on special occasions.
