Kent Music School

Violin

The violin is the most important instrument in the orchestra, despite being the smallest! There are up to 40 in an orchestra so there will always be opportunities to play. The violins play all the tunes and are always busy, and have a real team spirit as they have to play together as a section. Apart from traditional orchestral playing, there are many other outlets available including jazz, folk, and now rock as the electric violin becomes ever more popular. The violin is one of the most traditional of instruments but is still at the cutting edge!
