Malcolm Binney

Binney’s professional career began as a freelance violinist with the major London orchestras. He studied conducting at the Guildhall School of Music, where he won the Kapsilis Cup for conducting. He was a pupil of Rafael Kubelik, George Hurst, Garry Bertini, and Sir Georg Solti. His guest appearances include most of the British provincial orchestras, as well as orchestras in Canada, North America, Holland, Italy, and Germany. Alan studied trombone and piano at the Royal Academy of Music. Prior to this he had for some years been a member of the National Youth Orchestra. On leaving the RAM he freelanced with touring ballet and opera companies and then began to work regularly with the English Chamber Orchestra, during which time he worked with Benjamin Britten as solo alto trombonist in his opera “The Burning Fiery Furnace”. Born in Manchester, Nigel Osborne is a composer and music therapist whose studies and work have taken him all over Europe. He studied composition with Witold Rudzinski at the Warsaw Academy, Kenneth Leighton, and Egon Wellesz, the first pupil of Arnold Schoenberg. His works have been featured in international festivals and performed by many leading orchestras and ensembles around the world. Graeme Vinall grew up in Maidstone and learnt clarinet with Sally Kirby.  He was a founder member of Maidstone Youth Music Society and was the first leader of Kent Youth Wind Orchestra. Andy Millest 

Andy Millest studied Music at Sheffield University before going on to teacher training at Cambridge University. He immediately returned to Kent to take up a teaching post at his old school. From 1990-2016 he held the post of Director of Music as The Rochester Grammar School and the Music Department does much to contribute to the fine reputation of this highly successful school. Gordon Graham

Gordon Graham, born and educated in Northern Ireland, gained his music degree from the Royal Academy of Music, London. He holds a PGCE from the Institute of Education, University of London, and has has recently completed a Masters in Teaching degree at the same institution. He currently holds the positions of Music Coordinator and Band Director at the American School in London, where he has taught since 2005. Graham Mann

Graham Mann studied trombone, piano and percussion at Colchester Institute and was already teaching Drum Kit, Percussion and Brass by the time he graduated in 1993. He plays in many ensembles of varied styles, from jazz quartets to classical orchestras including appearances at Ronnie Scotts and The Jazz Cafe among many others. Alan Vincent has worked extensively with youngsters and adults during a long career as a teacher, composer, and conductor of choirs and orchestras. After studying at Clare College, Cambridge and London University’s Institute of Education he taught music in secondary schools before joining the Schools’ Council project Music in the Secondary School Curriculum based at the University of York.
