Summer School

See you next year! Kent Music Summer School 2018 will run from Thursday 12 July to Monday 30th July.

The Summer School has welcomed thousands of young people over the past 70 years and enabled the students to join in concentrated ensemble playing and singing. All of our courses are led by leading professional musicians who work at the highest level throughout the year as performers and educators.

Set in 240 acres of beautiful grounds in the heart of Kent, Benenden School has excellent facilities, including a concert hall, purpose-built theatre, music wing and lecture theatre. These amenities have contributed to the Summer School being one of the most popular and successful on offer in the country, allowing students to flourish in an unrivalled setting.

The Summer School has grown considerably over the years. While it still offers the core of traditional courses that have been key to its success, new courses have been added to allow more students to be part of a very special musical experience. In July 2016, we introduced a new commercial music course and moved our musical theatre course into the school’s theatre so that we could work on fully-staged segments from musical theatre shows.

2017 courses:

  • It's the best place I've ever been to in terms of finding friends and being happy. It is the best place to improve in your instrument quickly!
  • Had a totally wonderful time this summer and came away absolutely buzzing from the experience.
  • It's amazing and I could not be more grateful for the opportunities it's given me, or the people I've met who have helped me grow as a person not just a musician!
  • Learning to appreciate and play some of the best music ever written is undoubtedly one of the prime attractions of KMSS, but there is, as you know, so much more.
