Autumn Half-term String Course

Friday , 27 October, 2017
Rochester Grammar School, Maidstone Road, Rochester ME1 3BY
10am - 4pm

Friday 27th to Sunday 29th October 2017

Our half-term String Course is a fantastic opportunity for string players to make music together in a friendly and fun atmosphere. You will have the chance to meet people with a similar interest in music and get to share and enjoy playing in a group, then the opportunity to play in a concert, free for family and friends. Qualified and experienced staff will coach and encourage you to extend your musical skills, knowledge and understanding; they will be able to listen to you play as part of an ensemble and give recommendations for further development and possible entry into Kent Youth Wind Orchestra and Kent County Youth Orchestra.

Who can apply?
Your application is welcome if you are aged between 7 and 18 and have reached grades 1-3 for strings. If grades have not been taken, your instrumental teacher may be asked for your approximate playing standard to make sure the course is right for you.

Will I be auditioned?
No audition is required. We need to recruit balanced ensembles so acceptance will depend on the standard you have achieved and your experience to date.

Family and friends are invited to the end of course concert at 1pm on Sunday 29th October; there are no tickets and it is free to attend.

How much does it cost?
£75 for the three-day course. You will be sent joining instructions and an invoice once your application has been processed. 75% bursaries are available for those requiring financial assistance and meeting financial criteria. Please contact if you would like more information.
