Community Champion award presented to Band without Boundaries member

John Taylor, a member of Band without Boundaries has been presented with an award as a Community Champion in the Sevenoaks Community and Voluntary Awards 2017.

This is for all John’s voluntary work over the years including making the community more accessible, his work as a trustee and being a role model for others. We are so pleased that John’s dedication and hard work has been recognised.

What is Band without Boundaries?

BwB is a mix of local musicians and adults with learning and physical disabilities. It was formed to give people with disabilities the opportunity to join a mainstream community band. The way the group rehearse and compose music has been developed so that it is accessible to everyone.

We want to break down perceptions about disability and to show that given the opportunity disabled people can make a valuable contribution to the community. The band is led by Joe Browne, is free to join and welcomes players of all ages and abilities. Our drummer is 93 and has a diary full of gigs!
