Fantastic festive performance by Kent Youth Wind Orchestra

The Kent Youth Wind Orchestra (KYWO) under the focused and highly experienced David Cresswell, produced a ‘polished’ performance on Sunday 18 December. The concert held at Nye Hall in Dover attracted a very appreciative audience who were obviously impressed by the results that the ensemble was able to produce following a four-day course.

The programme included a good selection of seasonal music mixed in with some challenging concert band repertoire.

Phill Hyde, who has been Orchestral Manager for Kent Music for 25 years this year, commented “It is always a pleasure to listen to the musicians representing the County of Kent. The standard achieved in such a short space of time continues to impress me and the support of parents, grand parents and teachers is always to be recognised and applauded.”

This is a superb start to the 2016-17 Season, which will include KYWO working on a new commission in July as part of the Kent Music Summer School 70th year celebrations. The ensemble will be conducted by the composer, Wing Commander Duncan Stubbs, who wrote music for the Royal Wedding in 2011. KYWO are very excited and privileged to be working with Duncan again in July.

Kent Youth Wind Orchestra will be performing alongside the Kent Senior Choirs and Kent Junior Choirs at the outstanding Colyer-Fergusson Hall in April. You can find the event information here.
