Kent County Youth Orchestra: Winter 2015

On 2 January 2016 Kent County Youth Orchestra performed an exciting new year concert programme including Mussorgsky’s ‘Night on a bare mountain’ and Shostakovich’s titanic 10th Symphony which coincidentally is one of the BBC’s chosen ‘ten pieces’ repertoire for 2016. This concert was the culmination of hard work and dedication from orchestra members which began on the annual winter course at Ashford School shortly after Christmas. The course and concert was conducted by Michael Seal – Associate Conductor, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. This challenging programme was ably coped with by our excellent orchestra players with the leadership of Michael and support by 14 highly skilled instrumental tutors.

The orchestra is always pleased to have the support of new players and would like to hear from anyone interested in joining the orchestra.  Please see the Orchestra’s webpage to download an audition form or contact pmiller@kent-music.com.

KCYO next perform at the Colyer-Fergusson Hall, Canterbury on 9 April 2016.
