Could you help shape the future of music education in Kent & Medway?
We are seeking two new trustees to join our Board and help guide Kent Music through an exciting and ambitious next chapter.
Kent Music is the lead organisation for the Kent & Medway Music Hub, funded by Arts Council England. As a charity, we are dedicated to widening access to high-quality music education and ensuring that children and young people across the region can discover, develop and sustain a lifelong relationship with music.
Driven by our belief that music changes lives, we work closely with schools, colleges, cultural organisations and partners to support learners of all ages, particularly children and young people.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for two trustees with skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Finance
- Communications
Professional experience of working in music or education is not necessary, what matters most is a genuine interest in music education and a commitment to Kent Music’s purpose and values.
Why become a trustee?
Being a trustee is a rewarding and strategic volunteer role. You’ll help shape Kent Music’s vision, support its leadership, and strengthen music education across Kent and Medway.
Alongside making a real impact, you’ll gain experience in charity governance, strategic decision-making and leadership, while expanding your professional network. Trustees are supported through induction, training and ongoing development.
Who should apply?
We’re keen to hear from people with experience in fundraising, finance or communications who want to use their skills to support music education.
You might work in the public, private or voluntary sector, and you don’t need prior board experience. An interest in music and its value to young people is far more important than specialist musical knowledge.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and particularly encourage interest from those currently underrepresented in music education and governance.
How to apply
To express your interest, please email recruitment@kent-music.com with your application form and equality & diversity monitoring form by 9am on Friday 30th January 2026.
Kent Music is committed to equity and inclusion. If you have access requirements or would like adjustments made at any stage of the process, please let us know by contacting recruitment@kent-music.com
