Could you help shape the future of music education in Kent & Medway?
We are excited to invite two young people aged 16–25 to join our Board of Trustees. You might be a music student, a young creative, or someone eager to learn how charities are run and how your voice can shape decisions at the highest level of a charity.
Kent Music is the lead organisation for the Kent & Medway Music Hub, funded by Arts Council England, and a charity dedicated to widening access to high-quality music education. Driven by our belief that music changes lives, we work closely with schools, colleges, cultural organisations and partners to ensure that learners of all ages, especially children and young people, can access and progress in music.
We’re looking for passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees and play a key role in shaping the next phase of our journey
We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are especially keen to hear from candidates in Medway as we continue to grow our reach and representation across the county.
Why become a trustee?
Being a trustee is both a rewarding and strategic volunteer opportunity. You’ll play a vital role in shaping Kent Music’s vision, supporting its leadership, and strengthening music education for the region.
Trustees are supported through induction, training and mentoring, and we are committed to making the experience enriching for you as well as impactful for the organisation.
Who we're looking for
In this role, you will:
- Gain hands-on experience in leadership, governance and strategic planning.
- Build your CV with valuable skills in finance, decision-making and organisational oversight.
- Receive tailored support and mentoring from an experienced Board member.
Who you are:
- Aged 16–25, with a passion for music and creativity.
- Eager to learn, with an interest in how organisations and charities work.
- Ready to share your perspective and represent the voices of young people in Kent & Medway.
- A team player who is open to support, learning and growth.
