This course gives you the chance to explore songwriting and develop your own ideas, both independently and with others. You’ll be supported by experienced tutors as you write and shape your own songs.
You’ll explore how contemporary songs are structured and what makes them work. Along the way, you’ll get support with lyric writing and arranging your music.
Live instruments will be used to help you experiment with different sounds, but you don’t need to play an instrument to take part.
The course ends with a performance for family and friends, where you’ll share the songs you’ve created. This is a 3 day residential course.
Depending on whether you sing or play an instrument, Song Writing can support progression into Jazz, Wind Band, Symphony Orchestra, Kent Youth Choir, Kent Youth Wind Orchestra or Kent County Youth Orchestra.
All staff working with children and young people hold a current enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and take part in regular safeguarding and child protection training.
