Are you new to music with the under 5s? Or experienced but looking for new ideas and to connect with other practitioners? This session will explore music within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Participants will:

  • Explore ‘Development Matters in the EYFS’ guidance, covering the ‘Prime’ and ‘Specific’ areas of learning and development as well as the ‘Characteristics of Effective Learning’ and how these can be supported and extended by adults.
  • Explore ‘Musical Development Matters’, a recently published document which supports practitioners to see the musical attributes of young children, offer ideas to support children’s musical development and offer broad musical experiences.
  • Gain an insight into Early Years Music and discuss how it can support the EYFS framework

Who is the training for?
Music leaders with an interest in developing their early years knowledge; Early Years Professionals and Nursery/Reception teachers looking to better understand how music can support the EYFS.
