
Discover brass band music in the heart of Maidstone
Maidstone Junior Brass Band welcomes young players from beginner to grade 3 who are ready to explore brass band music together. This fun and supportive group helps musicians improve their skills, develop ensemble playing, and gain confidence through regular performance opportunities.
The band is a great way to build musicianship, boost your creativity and enjoy the social side of music-making at Maidstone Music Centre. It’s also a wonderful starting point for your musical journey, setting you up to join other groups at the Centre including Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra (KYJO) and Maidstone Youth Music Society (MYMS) ensembles.
Whether you’re learning trumpet, trombone, euphonium, cornet, tuba, or any brass instrument, this group gives you the chance to play, progress and have fun with other brass players!

The group is led by experienced brass teacher Alexandro Rodrigues. Known for his friendly, enthusiastic approach, Alexandro is passionate about supporting young musicians’ development in a welcoming environment.

Who is the group for?
Maidstone Junior Brass Band is open to all young brass players from beginner to grade 3. It’s a great option for learners already having lessons, whether at school, in the community, or at Maidstone Music Centre, who want to try out brass band music.
The group provides a fun and supportive environment to build ensemble skills, boost confidence and prepare for progression into more advanced groups.
This is an ideal group for your first experience playing as an orchestra, and to learn more about Brass Band music and styles.
Are instruments provided?
Students will need to bring their own instruments.
How much does it cost to join?
We aim to make Music Centre membership as affordable and accessible as possible for everyone who wants to join the music community.
Once you’re a member you will have access to all groups at our Music Centres. You can join as many as you wish, no matter which centre you initially signed up at and make even more music!
Lessons are an additional charge. However, if you have lessons with us you will receive a 10% discount on your Music Centre membership.

How do I join?
It’s simple! Just click the ‘join this group’ button on this page. Complete the form and add the course to your basket. Then go to your basket to finish your application by logging into your Kent Music online customer account.
If you don’t have an account, no worries – you can still apply by clicking the ‘Apply Here’ button. You’ll be guided through a few easy steps to create an account and complete your application.
Once your application is done, you’ll receive further information about your lessons or ensemble.

What if I don’t have my own instrument?
We offer an instrument hire service at affordable rates. You’ll get a discount on your instrument hire if you have lessons with us! This allows students to access high-quality instruments without the need for a significant upfront investment.
