Whether you’ve been learning for a year or just starting to feel confident, this welcoming ensemble builds skills, boosts confidence, and helps players find their sound alongside others.
With expert guidance from an experienced tutor, students explore fun and varied wind band music while working towards performances that bring everything to life.


Meet your tutor
West Kent Junior Wind Band is led by Stephanie Jarvis, an experienced tutor and musician who has taught thousands of young people in Kent and Medway during her career. Stephanie runs the Hextable Wind Band and has also been managing the Kent Music Summer School Experience Day for West Kent primary schools for more than 15 years!

Who is the group for?
West Kent Junior Wind Band is open to all brass, woodwind and percussion players at from beginner to Grade 3 or equivalent. It’s ideal for student who’ve been learning an instrument through whole-class lessons at school, who have 1-1 lessons, and everyone in-between!
This is an ideal group for your first experience playing as an orchestra, and to learn more about Wind Band music and styles.
Are instruments provided?
Students will need to bring their own instruments with the exception of drums/percussion which can be provided on request.
How much does it cost to join?
We aim to make Music Centre membership as affordable and accessible as possible for everyone who wants to join the music community.
Once you’re a member you will have access to all groups at our Music Centres. You can join as many as you wish, no matter which centre you initially signed up at and make even more music!
Lessons are an additional charge. However, if you have lessons with us you will receive a 10% discount on your Music Centre membership.

How do I join?
It’s simple! Just click the ‘join this group’ button on this page. Complete the form and add the course to your basket. Then go to your basket to finish your application by logging into your Kent Music online customer account.
If you don’t have an account, no worries – you can still apply by clicking the ‘Apply Here’ button. You’ll be guided through a few easy steps to create an account and complete your application.
Once your application is done, you’ll receive further information about your lessons or ensemble.

What if I don’t have my own instrument?
We offer an instrument hire service at affordable rates. You’ll get a discount on your instrument hire if you have lessons with us! This allows students to access high-quality instruments without the need for a significant upfront investment.
