For young players and beginners alike
West Kent Ukuleles is a lively ensemble group for beginner musicians to learn and play ukulele together. Sessions include chord strumming, melody playing, singing, improvising and simple composing, all in a friendly group setting. Players build technique and musical understanding step by step, while exploring a range of styles and preparing for informal performances at Sevenoaks Music Centre. This group is designed to help players grow from first steps into more confident ensemble musicians.

FAQs
Who is the group for?
This group is for young people aged 8–13, from enthusiastic beginners to those with some early musical experience. It’s especially well suited to pupils moving on from MusicPlus (whole-class ukulele learning in schools), or those who already play a little and wants to develop their skills in a group, or brand new players. It works well as a bridge between first access learning and more advanced ensemble playing.
Are instruments provided?
Students should bring their own ukulele. If you learn at school, you may be able to borrow the ukulele you use there for personal practice – please check with your school.
