Welcome to the Isle of Sheppey Music Centre!

Isle of Sheppey Music Centre (IOSMC) is an inspiring local music hub based in the heart of the community and designed with musicians in mind.

We offer a range of musical opportunities for musicians of all ages, backgrounds and interests.

It’s the best place to connect with the local music community, providing access to fantastic music education outside of school hours and regardless of the availability of  groups in schools.

We look forward to welcoming you to the centre!

Joining a local music ensemble like an orchestra, choir or band can enhance this playing, giving you the opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn new skills, and become a confident player.

Ensembles are always enjoyable, and often there is the opportunity to join in with performances and showcase your talents.

Find out more about our ensembles and sign up today at the links below!

Music Centre membership is fantastic value from only £4.50 a week, with some great benefits!

As a member you will have access to all ensembles at our Music Centres across Kent, so you can join as many as you wish, no matter which centre you initially signed up at.

Tuition is an additional charge, but you will receive a 10% discount on your membership if you wish to also wish to join an ensemble at a Music Centre.

Fees per term for 2021-22

Child £45 | Adult £60

Financial assistance may also be available for students who meet our criteria. For more information and to find out if you are eligible to apply for a bursary, please see our Financial Assistance page.

Whilst restrictions have been eased, we are still prioritising everyone’s health and safety and would therefore ask that all centre staff and students undertake some basic measures to reduce the risk from COVID-19.

These measures are also part of our agreement to work at our venue, so it’s important that everyone follows the measures below while at the centre so we can continue to work at this wonderful venue!

Please read very carefully

Before attending the Centre:

  • Wherever possible, we are asking all our staff and participants to take a lateral flow test no more than 24 hours before you attend the Centre.
  • If your test result is positive, please do not attend your lesson/ensemble and inform Centre Manager Lucy Duff on lduff@kent-music.com as soon as possible. If you can, please do this every week.

Whilst at the Centre:

  • It is vital that you register with our receptionist when you arrive at the Centre.
  • We will be letting one student in at a time for registration.
  • Parents/carers can accompany their child to the entrance of the building, but please do not come in unless you need to speak directly to a member of the Kent Music team.
  • Please be aware that parents/carers will NOT be able to wait inside the building whilst lessons/ensembles are taking place.
  • We are asking all our staff and secondary age students to wear a face covering when inside communal areas of the Centre, including the reception and when moving to your designated lesson or ensemble room. Face coverings can be removed for singing or playing blown instruments and when drinking.
  • We will still be encouraging social distancing, with non-blown instrument players a minimum of 1m apart and blown instrument players and singers 2m apart.
  • The Kent Music team will be regularly cleaning throughout the Centre. Hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes will be made available to all staff and students, but please do bring your own if you have them.
  • Please maintain good hand hygiene particularly at the end of your lesson and after using the toilet facilities.
  • Students will be responsible for their own instruments and equipment.
  • Windows will be left open to ensure plenty of ventilation – please make sure you bring appropriate clothing with you if the weather is chilly. Lessons will only take place in rooms which allow for good ventilation.
  • At the end of your session at the Centre, students MUST be signed out by our receptionist once they have confirmed that a parent/carer is there to collect them.
  • When your child’s session is over, please wait outside the reception entrance to collect your child. Please do not enter the building unless you need to speak to a member of the Kent Music team.

After visiting the Centre:

  • If you feel unwell or have a positive test result within 48 hours of attending the Centre, please inform Centre Manager Lucy Duff on lduff@kent-music.com immediately.
  • All staff and student contact details will be recorded so that we can instigate the track and trace process. Please note, any positive test result will only be shared anonymously.
Please do not attend the Centre if:
  • You or a member of your household has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days.
  • You or a member of your household are feeling unwell, even if your symptoms don’t appear to be ‘typical’ COVID-19 symptoms and/or you have taken a lateral flow test with a negative result. We want to avoid other bugs too!
  • You have received a notification from the NHS telling you that you must isolate on the date of your lesson/ensemble.

As ever, please do not hesitate to contact us on musiccentres@kent-music.com if you have any further questions.

We look forward to making music with you at IOSMC!
