David Holmes

I have been teaching drum kit and percussion across London and the South East for nearly 20 years.

I hold a BMus degree in Music from King’s College, London an LRAM teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Music and a Masters in Orchestral Percussion from the Royal College of Music.

Playing percussion has allowed me to experience performing in an extremely wide variety of styles and environments. I have played in symphony orchestras, period instrument ensembles, musical theatre productions, contemporary chamber groups, jazz and rock bands. I have played in concert halls, recording studios, pubs and churches in styles ranging from classical to rock, jazz and world music. I am very keen to pass this experience on to my students and to help them embrace the broad range of styles and opportunities open to a percussionist.

I am an examiner for Trinity College London, a role that has taken me all over the UK and abroad to Türkiye and India.
