Jenny Carter
My own musical journey began in the brilliant Leicestershire County Music system, first with piano, then violin and viola. My involvement with various Youth Music settings ignited a life-long passion for music which lead me to train professionally at the Royal Academy of Music, also working as a performing musician in orchestras across London and the South East. I developed a love of chamber music whilst at the Academy and am still always on the lookout for works with an interesting viola part!
More recently, I’ve had a long career in education in a variety of settings. I love to see my students grow through their involvement in music, not just as musicians but as learners and human beings. In my teaching, I seek to find the right approach for each individual student to bring out the best in them. When I am not teaching, I play in a number of local orchestras and chamber groups. I also love long walks, wild swimming (in warm weather!) spending time with family and friends and practising a recently-acquired skill: crochet. I am also slave to my resident feline sidekick!
