Noah Lock
I graduated from University of Southampton in 2025 with a degree in music. During my time there I enjoyed playing as a solo double bassist and as a part of many different ensembles on both bass guitar and double bass. I also took modules in composition and music technology, particularly enjoying writing music for short films and videogames. Since graduating, I have played in workshops and orchestras across Kent and London.
When I teach, I’m aware that music is a skill for life and I aim to teach everything that my students need for their own musical journeys including technique, theory, musicianship and ensemble skills. I also like to take input from my students when choosing repertoire/projects and exercises to make learning as enjoyable as possible for everyone. For instrumental learning I always encourage all my students to join ensembles when they’re ready. I believe that you get the most out of music when you play alongside others.
Outside of my teaching work, I love performing as part of a bass section in orchestras and composing my own music!
