Farewell to Geoff

After 22 years working for Kent Music, this month we say goodbye to Geoff Dixon.
Geoff joined Kent Music in April 1992 as a supervisor on County Groups courses and as our music librarian in 1994. In 2000 he became manager of Kent County Youth Orchestra and in 2009 General Manager for the County Groups. In his time at Kent Music Geoff has attended 63 County Youth Orchestra courses as well as many other courses. He has toured with the Youth Orchestra to South America and given them opportunities to play in many venues including the Royal Albert Hall.
We estimate that over 1,500 young people have been through the orchestra during Geoff’s time, many going on to careers in music. In 2013 Geoff put together the 50th anniversary celebrations for the orchestra with a gala concert in Maidstone proving that orchestral music for young people is alive and well in Kent, thanks in no small way to Geoff.  He has made a huge contribution to the organisation and we will miss him. We wish him well with his new life in the north of England.
