Kent Music’s Orchestra ONE explore the sound of space

Inspired by NASA recordings, Kent Music’s Orchestra ONE took a giant leap into Space for their latest free four-day project. The young musicians aged 8-18 years used sound effects, music technology and vocal effects to create an exciting and innovative collection of musical pieces based on the sounds, characteristics and appearance of each of the planets and a moon.

The project took place at Invicta Grammar School in Maidstone and finished with a live concert on Sunday 19 November at the brand new Weald of Kent Grammar School, Sevenoaks Annexe.

Orchestra ONE workshops encourage young musicians to write their own lyrics and music and to experiment with different textures in sound, using a variety of instrument and vocal combinations. The group combines the skills and imagination of the newest and youngest participants with those of members who have been attending the projects since they began in 2011.
