Kent Youth Choirs and KYWO all in one Concert! Spring 2015

The Kent County Junior Singers, Kent County Junior Choir, Kent Youth Singers and Kent Youth Choir all had an opportunity to perform together at the fantastic venue of the Colyer-Fergusson Hall in Canterbury, together with the Kent Youth Wind Orchestra. The two senior choirs (KYC and KYS) were at their Easter Course at Sutton Valence school from 8th – 11th April and performed music made popular from television or film. Benjamin Rous conducted the Kent Youth Choir who performed  a wide variety of songs including ‘Blue Moon’ and ‘Cantique De Jean Racine’. Ciara Considine, with the Kent Youth Singers gave the audience an international tour featuring everything from Scandinavian chanting (‘Vuelie’ from Frozen) and Maori music with ‘Kia Hora Te Marino’. Ciara also led KCJC with ‘Close To You’ and ‘Catch a Falling Star’. The junior choirs joined together for an accomplished version of ‘No One Is Alone’ from ‘Into the Woods’, conducted by Karen Hill. The Kent Youth Wind Orchestra were also performing in the concert with all the choirs.

The choirs joined together with KYWO in the finale for an impressive version of ‘O Fortuna!’ from Carmina Burana, conducted by Graham Vinall. After a successful and enjoyable Easter Course for the senior choirs and KYWO it was the perfect concert opportunity to show the collaboration of the county groups and for the children in each group to see and hear from the others and perform at such a high standard.
