Maidstone Schools’ Recorder Festival 2015

Representatives from an impressive fourteen schools (Allington Primary School, Barming Primary School, Brunswick House Primary School, East Borough Primary School, East Farleigh Primary School, Hartlip Endowed CEP School, The Holy Family Catholic Primary School, Hunton CE Primary School, Palace Wood Primary School, Platt CE Primary School, Sandling Primary School, St. Katherine’s Primary School, St. Margaret’s Collier Street CE Primary School and St. Mark’s CE Primary School) performed at the 2015 Maidstone Recorder Festival, conducted by director Karen Barton. The performance, at All Saint’s Church in Maidstone, demonstrated the hard work and practise carried out by the staff and children – with over 200 performers each piece was tuneful and honed. The children also demonstrated their singing ability and were able to listen to performances from The Kent Schools Recorder Orchestra and a solo by Thomas Shelbourn. This was the culmination of many months of practise at the individual schools and collaboration during an area rehearsal day. The church was full with a supportive and enthusiastic audience!
