About Music Mark
Music Mark is a membership organisation, Subject Association and charity. It supports and connects organisations and individuals delivering music education for children and young people. Through resources, articles, training and networking opportunities, Music Mark advocates for high-quality, inclusive music education across the country.
From September 2025, Music Mark will introduce the ‘Music Mark of Recognition’, a new way to celebrate schools committed to providing excellent music opportunities for all pupils. This will replace the existing School’s Programme.

What is the Music Mark of Recognition?
The Music Mark of Recognition is a celebration of schools that demonstrate a clear commitment to providing high-quality music education for all students.
To receive the recognition, schools must accept Music Mark’s pledge:
- Advocate for the importance of music education in the curriculum and creative life of our school
- Provide an equitable, diverse and inclusive music education for every young person
- Welcome opportunities to broaden our musical horizons by working with providers in our community and beyond

What are the benefits of having a Music Mark of Recognition?
Schools awarded the Music Mark of Recognition will receive:
- Full access to all free content on the Music Mark website
- A certificate and logo to display on your school website, letters and emails
- A 50% discount on upgrading to a full Music Mark School Membership
There are two certificates available for schools who receive a Music Mark of Recognition:
- The Music Mark of Recognition for Dedication & Improvement
- The Music Mark of Recognition for Ambition & Quality

How do I apply?
All schools in Kent and Medway can apply for a Music Mark of Recognition via Kent Music.
To apply, please submit your school’s Music Development Plan (MDP) to us. Applications will then be reviewed using the following criteria:
- A clear commitment to improving music education, including a willingness to engage in development conversations
- Recognition of the value of music education as part of a broad and balanced curriculum
- A current strategy for music that supports all pupils
The Music Mark of Recognition will last for one academic year, with accounts expiring in August.
To ensure schools get the most from their Music Mark access, applications will be accepted during Term 1 only.
The deadline to submit your MDP is Friday 17 October 2025.
Successful schools will receive an invitation from Kent Music with instructions on how to accept the recognition and agree to the Music Mark of Recognition pledge.
Who do I contact to apply?
