Welcome to Kent Music’s SEN/D page.
As a Music Education Hub (MEH), we are committed to our task of ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, be that through whole-class opportunities or with one-to-one tuition.
In order to meet this aim we have in post a dedicated specialist to support primarily Special schools in Kent with their music provision, as well as Mainstream schools (With and without SEN Units). Their role will have many strands including; direct delivery to students in schools, CPD/training to support schools music provision, development of new and existing ‘accessible music instruments’ to improve young people accessibility to music making, the development of new, inclusive ensembles and much more.
On this page you will find both contact details for Luke Crook, our ‘Education Manager (SEND)’, and links to some of the projects that Kent Music have either delivered or supported to improve accessibility to music for young people with additional Needs. Luke is keen to hear from anyone with questions or ideas around music and SEN/D, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with him.
Other projects including Breaking the Bubble and the Stroke Association Choir can be found on our projects page.
