Do you freeze when you step in front of your choir? Are you unsure what to do with your hands? Does the thought of running the recorder group fill you with dread? If any of this sounds familiar, this course is for you!
This fun, supportive half day CPD introduces the basics of conducting and directing musical ensembles, designed especially for beginners. Open to staff in infant, primary, secondary and special schools, it’s ideal for anyone who is responsible for running a school music group.
This session will be led by Alan Gifford – Area Manager for Dover, Thanet and Canterbury, Musical Director of The Medway Band, and a highly experienced conductor and teacher – the session covers:
• Basic conducting technique
• Effective rehearsal and ensemble management
• Choosing suitable repertoire
• Preparing for and leading performances with confidence
No previous experience is needed, though those looking to refresh existing skills are very welcome.
Expect a practical, friendly session that builds confidence and skills – and enjoy a great excuse to book yourself a half day out of school.
Kent Music are proud to bring these events to music educators across the county for free! There is a small fee of £15 for independent schools and out of area schools. If you book a place please endeavour to attend or let us know if you can no longer make it as this may be preventing another person booking a space. There will be a charge of £15 to schools for non-attendance at in-person events without 48 hours notice.
Hosted at the Thannington Neighbourhood Resource Centre in Canterbury.
