County Groups Easter roundup!

Another hard-working holiday period for our County Groups saw the performance of the following concerts (all of which followed a schedule of intensive rehearsals on four separate residential courses).

Friday 5th April the Kent Youth Choir and Singers performed an excellent concert in St Mary the Virgin Church, Ashford that featured some beautiful singing by the KYC and some great rock & pop-based material (learned in a few days from memory) from the KYS under the direction of Ben Rous, Laura Howe and Ross Power.

Saturday 6th April KCYO’s second 50th anniversary concert

Friday 12th April saw the Kent Girls Choir and Kent Youth Barbershop in a joint concert at Sutton Valence School Chapel under the direction of Jill Moore and Sam Palacios. Their joint performance of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”or“Wimoweh Song” will live long in the memory.

Saturday, 13th April to round off our Easter celebrations the Kent Youth Wind Orchestra gave a wonderful concert of film music in St. Edmunds School Theatre, Canterbury under the skilful baton of Alan Hutt. This music provides a real challenge for wind orchestra players who often have to play technically complex string lines that have been transcribed for wind instruments.  KYWO rose to the challenge with some excellent performances.
