Welcome to Folkestone Music Centre!
Folkestone Music Centre (FMC) is an inspiring local hub for all types of musicians, from beginners to advanced players, aged 8-19. Our specialist tutors tailor activities to the musical interests of the young people who attend, and everyone is encouraged to bring their own ideas and influences to the mix!
FMC is a great place to connect with other local young musicians, providing access to fantastic music education outside of school hours. Whether you’re looking to improve your skills, try something new, or simply enjoy making music with others, Folkestone Music Centre has something for you.
First half term is free for new students!

Groups
Joining a local music ensemble like an orchestra, choir, or band can enhance your playing, giving you the opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn new skills, and become a confident musician. Ensembles are always enjoyable, and often there is the opportunity to join in with performances and showcase your talents.

Folkestone Music Lab
Our Folkestone Music Lab is a creative space for young people to develop their skills in band development, music technology, production, singing, instrumental skills, songwriting, and more. The Lab has been a thriving part of the Folkestone youth music scene since 2017.

How do I contact the Music Centre while it is open?
During Music Centre hours you can call the Receptionist’s tablet on 07496 765 268. At other times, please contact the Kent Music main office.
How much does it cost to join the Centre?
We aim to make Music Centre membership as affordable and accessible as possible for everyone who wants to join the music community.
Once you’re a member you will have access to all groups at our Music Centres. You can join as many as you wish, no matter which centre you initially signed up at and make even more music!

Is financial assistance available?
Our belief is simple: music should be accessible to all. That’s why we offer financial assistance to help you learn and grow. Financial assistance is available for lessons, Music Centre membership, instrument hire, and more.

What if I don’t have my own instrument?
We offer an instrument hire service at affordable rates. You’ll get a discount on your instrument hire if you have lessons with us! This allows students to access high-quality instruments without the need for a significant upfront investment.

If the lessons you’re looking for aren’t available at this Centre or your school, then we want to know! Please complete our Expression of Interest form via the button below. Completing this will help us plan to expand the instruments and locations in which we teach.
