James Bruce

I'm a professional trombonist and music teacher, and I really enjoy helping students develop their confidence and enjoyment through music. I studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where I completed a First Class BMus (Hons) and a Master's degree in Trombone Performance. I teach trombone and piano, working with students of different ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to more advanced players. I think lessons should be enjoyable and encouraging, while also giving students the skills and understanding they need to make progress. I try to adapt my teaching to each student, taking into account their interests, goals and the way they learn best. Alongside teaching, I work professionally as a trombonist and have performed with orchestras and ensembles across the UK, including Opera North, the BBC Concert Orchestra and other leading professional ensembles. I enjoy bringing my experience as a performer into my teaching and helping students discover the same enjoyment I have found in making music.
