Kent Schools Wind Band: Autumn 2014

Over 50 young musicians were able to develop their musical skills during a three day course being run over the Autumn half term break in Rochester by Kent Music’s County Groups department. There were two courses on offer catering for school age students wishing to experience the benefits of working in ensembles with other students of a similar age. A one day recorder experience day was directed by Karen Barton (Director of Kent Youth Recorders) allowing twenty recorder players to work on material specifically tailored to the group. The Kent Schools Wind Band worked under the expert guidance of Graeme Vinall and a team of specialist music tutors covering repertoire as varied as film music through to opera and beyond! The course concluded with a free concert for friends and family and was very well received by all present with players keen to be back in February half term for more.

The choice of music was both challenging and fun to play

The opportunity to perform in the wind band with other children of similar ages and from different schools is a great experience

Kent Schools Wind Band’s next course is on 20-22 February 2015. If you’re interested in joining KSWB, find out more about the group and the courses on offer here!
