Kent County Choirs: Summer 2015

All of the county choirs enjoyed their summer courses at Benenden school this July, during the series of summer school programmes run by Kent Music. The Kent Youth Choir and Kent Youth Singers celebrated a rich history of British composers and songs with their concert on July 20th and demonstrated their ability to sing in a variety of styles and genres. The Kent Youth Choir, conducted by Benjamin Rous performed a varied programme including the Three Shakespeare Songs by Vaughan Williams, and the Kent Youth Singers’ performance included an impressive rendition of Stanford’s The Blue Bird, conducted by Ciara Considine.

The Kent County Junior Choir held their summer concert on the 24th July and included some instrumental performances from some of the singers. KCJC were conducted by Ciara Considine and Andy Millest and also included an Israeli folk song, Dodi Li, conducted by a member of the choir, Kyle Siwek.

The Kent County Junior Singers, conducted by Karen Hill, impressed the audience with their varied repertoire in their concert on July 27th, including a rousing performance of ‘Double Trouble’ by John Williams, from the Harry Potter films.

The county choirs are available for singers between the ages of 8-21 and auditions will be available at the next junior rehearsal day on 19th September at New Line Learning Academy in Maidstone. Please contact the choirs’ manager, Liz Samson (eSamson@kent-music.com) for more information, or visit the county groups webpage.
