Three days of Music tuition end with public concert

Young musicians from across Kent and Medway will complete three days of top class tuition and rehearsal with a concert open to the public.

Kent Schools Orchestra and Kent Youth Symphonic Wind Band will stage the free concert at 3pm on Sunday February 23 in the Thorndike Arts Centre, RochesterGrammar School.

Phill Hyde, from organisers Kent Music, said: “The course concert is a culmination of intensive but enjoyable sectional and full rehearsals from 9am to 5pm with professional tutors on wind, brass and string repertoire. There are still places available on the course for wind, brass, string and percussion players and we would love to hear from young musicians aged between 11 and 18 who would like to take part.”

As well as providing top quality tuition, the course also allows instrumentalists to audition for a place in one of Kent’s prestigious county groups: Kent County Youth Orchestra, Kent Youth Wind Orchestra and the Kent County Choirs.

Members of Kent Schools Orchestra and Kent Youth Symphonic Wind Band who take part will receive 10% discounts on courses at this year’s Kent Music Summer School at BenendenSchool, near Cranbrook.
