Kent Music Bids to Lead Music Education Hub

Following the publication of a new National Plan for Music Education last November, Kent Music has submitted a bid to Arts Council England to lead a new Music Education Hub for Kent. The Music Education Hub for Kent will be a partnership of organisations which come together to deliver a wide range of music education services across the County.

Working with Kent County Council, schools, academies, Rhythmix, Pie Factory Music, arts organisations and other music education providers, the Hub aims to deliver a coordinated programme of music education to young people aged 5 – 18.

Programmes on offer will include a whole class music making programme for primary schools, transition programmes to help young people continue with music when they move to secondary schools, groups and music programmes in local music centres and at County level, a plan for using new technology to assist in the delivery of music education and support to young people living in challenging circumstances.

The Hub provides a wonderful opportunity to bring people together and provide a joined up approach to music education across Kent. The bid was put in on 17 February and the outcome will be known in May.
