Orchestra ONE stages first concert

A radical new orchestra that brings together young musicians with styles ranging from instrumental to DJ is to perform its first concert on Sunday December 11.

Orchestra ONE (Orchestra of New Experiences) was formed in May this year and offers young people with a passion for music the chance take part in free workshops and concerts across Medway, Maidstone and Tonbridge.

The concert at New Line Learning Academy, Boughton Lane, Maidstone, from 6.30pm will see young people from Kent and Medway aged 12 to 19 perform their original composition inspired by the River Medway and its crossings.

Tickets are available free in advance by contacting Kent Music on 01622 358406.

Orchestra ONE’s music director is Tim Steiner who has led hundreds of creative projects throughoutEurope. His challenge is bringing together the orchestra’s wide mix of talents, instruments and styles.

Kent Music development manager Laura Callaghan said: “This concert is going to showcase an incredible collection of musical styles and talents creating new kinds of music and culminating in a performance of an inspiring first composition.”
