Primary Schools Team Up for a Feast of Recorder Music
Young musicians from 23 primary schools across Kent will work together to perform an exciting range of recorder music at two concerts in Maidstone and Canterbury.
The Kent Music recorder festival, which has been running for more than 30 years, gives primary school children the chance to practise a set number of pieces in small groups before coming together to perform them in a large ensemble in front of an audience.
The young musicians, aged 9 to 11, will perform a mixed repertoire of jazz, blues and popular children’s tunes suitable for the recorder.
CANTERBURY
Featuring seven local schools, the Canterbury Recorder Festival will be held on Tuesday March 25 at the CanterburyAcademy, Knight Avenue, Canterbury, at 7pm.
Schools taking part: Briary Primary School, Deal Parochial CEP School, Eastling Primary School, Herne CEJ School, Sandwich Junior School, Selling Primary School, St Peter’s Catholic Primary School.
MAIDSTONE
Another 16 schools will take part in the Maidstone Recorder Festival on Friday March 28, from 7pm at All Saints Church, Mill Street, Maidstone.
Schools taking part: Allington Primary School, Barming Primary School, Harrietsham C of E Primary School, Hartlip Endowed CEP School, Hunton CEP School, Lenham Primary School, Lunsford Primary School, Mereworth Community Primary School, Palace Wood Primary School, Sandling Primary School, St Margaret’s Collier Street, St Michael’s Junior School, East Farleigh, Holy Family Catholic Primary School, Platt CEP School, St Peter & St Paul C of E Primary Yalding.
