Discovering CPD in autumn 2021 – and how you can get involved
We started with a bang in September in Dartford with our first of two Primary Music Basics sessions held by Katie Teage.
The session covered a range of basic knowledge and skills teachers should have to teach primary music confidently. Feedback from teachers who attended was outstanding.
The praise doesn’t stop there! On 13th October we hosted a secondary school CPD session on composing with Chris Fish from Passing Notes Education.
Chris used the session to support teachers to demystify the brief compositions set at KS4 and develop strategies for successfully teaching composition in secondary schools.
Next, we took our CPD programme on the road to Whitstable. Here we supported the primary teachers in the area to better use their percussion trolleys!
Mike Simpson from Inspire Works led the session, exploring the percussion trolley and how to introduce these instruments to their KS1 pupils. This session will run again in the Maidstone/Sevenoaks area in January 2022. We hope to see you there!
Finally, we concluded our Term One CPD programme in Maidstone with a session from Chiltern Music Therapy
Covering composing and song writing with SEND pupils, this insightful session supported many teachers from mainstream and Special schools. Everyone had a blast exploring how to introduce their pupils to song writing!
Thank you to all those who have attendee our sessions so far as well as out brilliant practitioners who have led sessions. We have tonnes on offer over the next academic year so do check out our CPD brochure.
All our CPD is free for teachers who teach in schools in Kent. For anyone looking to attend from a school outside of Kent (including Medway) we ask for a contribution of £10 to attend.
