On August 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 44 young people from across Kent and Medway came together for the 6th time as Orchestra ONE and created new music, culminating in one of the best Orchestra ONE concerts yet.

With students aged between 8 and 18, the group performed a ‘mashed’ up version of ‘Ah poor bird’ and ‘Feeling Good’ using both electronic samples and live excerpts. Students also took the chance to perform their own pieces including a guitar duet and a solo song accompanied by guitar.  Joe Browne, along with Kent Music and Rhythmix tutors, directed the group  to a standing ovation.

Orchestra One is funded by Golding Homes, Soundhub and The Kent People’s Trust and we are delighted to announce that Orchestra ONE has been granted £5,000 from The Kent Community Foundation through The Overstone Trust to be used on the next project which is currently being planned for 3rd, 4th & 5th January 2014.

For more information about the next project please email orchestraone@kent-music.com or ring Sophie Plumb on 01622 358406.  Students can apply to join Orchestra ONE for free at any time by visiting https://www.kent-music.com/orchestra_one to apply online.
